Tried this for the first time for breakfast with a friend. It was outstanding. The owner makes everyone feel like a long-time friend. The food was delicious. I had a simple breakfast of poached egg, hash browns, and sausage. Everything was cooked perfectly and the sausages were juicy, not greasy. My friend had the spinach and feta omelette which she declared outstanding. Definitely will come back here, maybe for lunch next time.

I ended up coming here as I had a late start at work! Am I ever glad I walked into this place. The server, Mimi, is something special. She is gracious and kind. She is what makes this place great. She greets you with an incredible smile, a hearty “GOOD MORNING” and her energy is contagious!! I was feeling a little grumpy when I walked in but I have a feeling the rest of my day will be great since it started with this positivity! Mimi is a gem and honestly she makes the food experience even better! Don’t pass this place by if you are looking for a wholesome meal. FYI the place was packed with people on a random Wednesday morning! That’s gotta tell you something!!!

Amazing wait staff. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a warm hello and a smile. They are very attentive without being overbearing. If nothing else the staff earn 5 stars alone. I was there for breakfast and decided on the Greek omelet. When served it was cooked to perfection. The waitress had recommended onions in the hash browns so I agreed to try it. They were amazing. Lastly I had chosen a pancake for my bread choice. It was served with your standard butter and syrup but the waitress also provided a big helping of whipped cream. It was divine to say the least. They also provide carry out. Sandwiches and salads from their deli. All of which looked fantastic. To be honest I can't wait to go back.

A fantastic overall experience! The layout is pleasant. Nothing over-the-top or crazy fancy, but in this case, that's a good thing. That being said, by no means is it a bad atmosphere to hang out in and relax for a bit, which I did. The food was truly superb. The breakfast skillet and pancake actually impressed quite a bit. Sure, it's hard to ruin pancakes. However, my skillet was loaded with corned beef hash, and the quality of the meat was good. Surprisingly flavorful. Portion sizes were generous too. I can't speak to the lunch menu directly, but I saw someone order a sandwich, and when it was brought out, it also looked well-made and was fairly large sized. I'd come back for lunch food, definitely. Prices are incredibly affordable for the quality and quantity of what you get. It's a great deal. But let me get to the best part about this place. I have never in my life had better service at any restaurant I've ever dined in or at. That's a bold statement, I know. However, the woman serving me went well above and beyond (out of her way) to make sure I was taken care of. I feel embarrassed that I forgot to get her name. People who legitimately care to help others are what really separates the marginal from the magnificent. In this case, this appreciation for customers will not be forgotten (as I'm sure anyone else who comes in and experiences it would also attest). I'll happily be returning for future visits, and I would urge anyone else in the area in the mood for some good "greasy spoon" type comfort food to do so as well. If you end up disappointed, I think it's because you wanted to be disappointed. Great stuff!

This place is amazing! A super cute and comfortable atmosphere with incredible service and food. To start, we arrived when there was a recent change in COVID-19 policies and were a bit confused to how to approach. The server came out to greet and guide us through the process in a very inviting way. The personal care she provided made me mistake her for an owner. Once we opened the food at home we couldn’t wait to dig! It not only looks scrupulous but TASTES phenomenal. My croissant was soft and tasty, and we could tell everything served was freshly made. We can’t wait to return!

The Prairie Café in Elmhurst is one of those rare gems hidden in plain sight. The husband-and-wife team are so amazing, we go out of our way once a year to when we are in Chicago to go there for breakfast. Mimi in the front of the house remembers what we like to the person for all five of us. The prices are on the low side and the portions generous. Two things stand out though the repartee with Mimi tops the list, but the nuanced flavors bring back memories of how my mother made it. Eating here is more than getting a great breakfast at a good price, it’s a step back, in time and attitude. It is a full-on experience. Tell Mimi you read the review from the guys that visit only once a year.

First things first, the food was honestly okay. The steak skillet didn't have too much steak, was a bit chewy, but otherwise it filled myself up and had some good flavor. The pancakes were not that great, they were a bit spongy and didn't taste as good as I'd like but pretty standard for a breakfast place Now, the service was a different story, honestly my server made me feel very comfortable, speedy delivery, no mistakes whatsoever, kind and sweet. I I would keep going here again and again just because I feel very welcome in this establishment.

I came upon this café with my boyfriend a while back and I have to say, its the perfect mom and pop breakfast/lunch café. Located in a quiet quaint strip with ample parking. During the summer they even offer outdoor seating to those that would choose. Mimi is always on top of her customer care and knowledge of the menu. You will never have an empty coffee cup and you will always leave in a better mood because of her warm and bubbly personality. That kind of positivity is contagious! Even on slightly busy days, Mimi and her staff work very hard to learn their customers and welcome them back like family. Its very enjoyable observing how warm the staff is to nrw and returning cutomers. This is my favorite breakfast nook now and I know it will be for you too if you truly appreciate a family home-cooked atmosphere <3

I really enjoyed eating breakfast here All the food was cooked perfectly and tasted great! Staff is very friendly and courteous as well I would definitely recommend trying something on the menu here.
